Scope and Contents In the case of this collection, Scope and Content are virtually synonymous. Both words encompass Dr. Bliss's single-minded, detailed study of crustaceans in general and the land crab gecarcinus lateralis in particular. There is nothing in these papers that refers to her teaching positions or the other outside interests cited in the biographical sketch. It must be assumed that she was always careful to compartmentalize her various activities. The scope of the material starts in...

The majority of the journal content details specimen numbers, as well as information when these items were received, from where and whom. They are all...

Watercolor sketches for the Department of Invertebrates of the American Museum of Natural History by Chris E. Olsen

 Collection
Identifier: RF-98-C
Scope and Contents Artwork of marine invertebrates made by Chris Olsen. Most of the illustrations are field watercolor sketches of coral and sponge specimens from Tarpon Springs, Florida, done in 1941 and 1942. Includes herbarium specimen from Tarpon Springs, Florida which may or may not have been collected by Olsen. The drawings of invertebrates from Tarpon Springs seem to have been created at a later time in the lab as they all date after the actual expedition.  Collection
Identifier: Mem 306
Scope and Contents Molds for exhibits were created and used to prepare the models that compose the exhibits of the American Museum of Natural history, approximately from 1889 to the 1990s, first by the science departments and then by the Department of Exhibition and its different iterations. Models were meant to reproduce existing and extinct animal specimens, humans and cultural artifacts, insects and plant life. The types of mold that can be found in this grouping provide insight on the methods employed to...
