Culpeper microscope possibly made between 1760 and the first half of the 19th century. The name comes from Edward Culpeper (1670-1738), a scientific instrument maker based in London, England, who developed this type of microscope between 1725 and 1730. The Culpeper design received much popularity and was reproduced and improved by several instrument makers, including John Cuff, George Adams, Benjamin Martin, and Edward Nairne.
