This series contains 27 handwritten manuscripts collected by Titian R Peale. Most are his own notes on various flora and fauna, including opossum, buffalo, and the sand-hill crane. There are also letters from friends to Peale and handwritten notes by other explorers, such as John Franklin and William McClure. Those that are dated are from the first half of the 19th century.

The Titian Ramsay Peale collection consists of approximately 500 objects. The majority of these are prints/illustrations (200), but there are also over 100 photographs and 65 drawings. Though the collection is attributed to Titian Peale, a number of other family members may have contributed objects, including Albert Peale and Coleman Sellers.
