Content Description
Digital photographs of collection specimens taken for the redesign of the Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals. The Hall reopened in June 2021. These images are used in the interactive exhibit features and website https://www.amnh.org/interactive/gem-labels. This application was developed by the National Center for Science Literacy, Education, and Technology (NCSLET), within the Department of Education. Each specimen is photographed both from the front and side; all photographs were taken by Andrea Mason under the supervision of AMNH photographer Denis Finnin. They represent a selection of specimens from the American Museum of Natural History Department of Earth and Planetary Science collections.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Copies of all digital assets were shared through a Dropbox folder by Rose Center Engineering, and metadata for the assets was provided through csv exports from the Department of Earth and Planetary Science Filemaker Pro database.
Existence and Location of Originals
Rose Center Engineering retains the working original files to maintain the interactives.

Files were received in a transparency layered psd format. For archival purposes, layers were merged and files were converted to tif format.
