Journals (28 v.) kept by J.T. Nichols consisting chiefly of detailed records of birds and some other animals he observed in Mastic, Long Island, and other locations in the New York Area. The entries are dated Aug. 10, 1904 to Nov. 1, 1958 (Nichols died on Nov. 10, 1958). Also includes a bibliography of his 1,045 publications in a separate vol.

Each vol. (except last 2 vols.) includes index.

The 1st four vols. consist of approximately 200 p., the 5th and 7th vol. of 300 p., and all others of 152 p. Most of them are filled on recto of leaves only; in the last vol. of the journal, p. 128-152 are blank.
