Biographical sketch
Egler was a plant ecologist and pioneer in the study of vegetation science, and a research associate in the Conservation Dept. at the American Museum of Natural History. He assisted Rachel Carson in preparing Silent spring.

R/W Maintenance Corporation (renamed R/W Maintenance Service in 1955 or early 1956) was founded expressly to follow the method of brush control originated by Egler and followed the recommendations set by the Museum's Committee for Chemical Brush Control Recommendations for Rightofways (cf. Paper no. 8).
