Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series consists of photographs, picture clippings, newspaper spreads, and magazine articles mostly describing the Animal Kingdom, but also including Astronomy, Meteorology, Geology, Paleontology, Evolution, and Plants. The clippings were separated originally with the intention of pasting them to file folders like the other six series. However, they were never pasted to the folders, and so they remain loose together in folders. Many of the clippings are from the New York Times Picture Section and The Illustrated London News. The Bird section contains many original photographs that were originally intended for Nature and Natural History magazines that were later donated by those publications to the exhibitions department.
