Scope and Contents

1947 includes itineraries for Colbert and Simpson. Correspondence between Colbert and Erik K. Reed, Thomas E. Whitcraft, Superintendent of the Pertrified Forest National Monument, Dr. Thomas Ierardi, George Whitaker, William Fish, Wayne M. Faunce, Jack Noble, Carl Sorensen. Correspondence includes letters about permission to excavate for fossils. Also correspondence about publicity for the expedition. Also included is the report on the expedition sent by Colbert to Alexander Wetmore of the Smithsonian in accordance with permit regulations. Also present are some receipts.

Colbert did not go into the field in 1948, but he corresponded with members of the expedition - Carl Sorensen, George and Doris Whitaker.
