Scope and Contents

Department of Vertebrate Paleontology records, including annual reports, minutes of staff meetings and some scientific reports. Administrative activity is recorded in the Annual Report documents of the early Department of Paleontology from 1873-1891. Following are reports for the later Department of Vertebrate Paleontology from 1891-1976. Records during the years following 1891 provide a robust account of the Department's personnel hired, administrative costs and spending. Field work and costs are notated along with departmental happenings and staff meetings through 1941.

Arrangement

Box 1 contains clippings from the AMNH annual reports from 1873 to 1946. Boxes 2 through 6 contain annual reports of the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology from 1891 to 1976. Boxes 6 contains also contains notes of the departmental meetings from 1910 to 1930 and box 7 contains the notes of the departmental meetings from 1931 to 1941. Notes for the meetings from 1914 to 1926 are missing.
