Exhibition. Opened May 8, 1972 and closed August 1972. Located in the New York State Roosevelt Memorial at the American Museum of Natural History. "John James Audubon's Birds of North America" featured the volume in a specially designed case donated by the Ogden Foundation.

Historical Note

"John James Audubon's Birds of North America" featured the volume in a specially designed case donated by the Ogden Foundation. Printed in London between 1826-38, two different engravers were involved in its printing: William Home Lizars and Robert Havell and Son. The four volumes owned by the Museum are known as the "Audubon Elephant Folio." The folio was on view in the Roosevelt Hall of the American Museum of Natural History during the summer of 1972.
