Scope and Contents

Silver cross worn around Lincoln Ellsworth neck. Put there by his sister before his first trip with Amundsen. Later Ellsworth will wear it in all of the North Pole and Antarctic expeditions between 1925 and 1939.

Silver cross on leather cord. The engraving on the back reads "Lat. 88oN. 22 May 1925; Where faith abides through hope be put to flight; Crossing of the Polar Sea May 11th to 13th 1926."
