Scope and Contents

This series is comprised of the objects used or acquired by Lincoln Ellsworth during the North Pole and Antarctic expedition between 1925 and 1939. These objects mainly consist of navigation instruments, snow tools and equipment, and camping gear. Notable items include a drift finder, compasses, crampons, skis, sledges, a tent, a camping stove, and provision basket. Commemorative items, such as bookends and Ellsworth’s original and reproduced medals, are also part of this series.
