Donald F. Squires was appointed Assistant Curator of Fossil Invertebrates at the American Museum of Natural History in 1956. He authored a comprehensive monograph on the corals of New Zealand and did field work on Arno Atoll in the Marshall Islands for a survey of the limestone reefs in that area of the Pacific
