Biographical or Historical Note

Artist

Joseph Bartholomew Kidd was an artist. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and died in Greenwich, England. He worked with Audubon on Birds of America. It is presumed that Kidd copied some of the birds of America (with Audubon's agreement), put in backgrounds and sell them, dividing the proceeds with Audubon. The American Museum of Natural History has several oil paintings made by Kidd
