Summary
"Inside You" was an exhibit which was inspired by the Museum-created exhibition "The Secret World Inside You" which introduced visitors to the human microbiome. This new exhibit introduced more visitors to the world of microbes and how they impact our health and well-being. Visitors discovered where microbes live in, on and around them. Graphics detailed how microbes aid digestion, influence the immune system and help fight harmful microbes. The exhibit revealed how we acquire our microbiome and how it is shaped by the foods we eat and the environment we live in. On view was a video featuring some of the scientists who are breaking new ground in microbiome research. The exhibit was co-curated by Susan Perkins and Rob DeSalle, curators in the Museum's Division of Invertebrate Zoology and the Sackler Institute for Comparative Genomics. Supported by Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson and the Arthur Ross Foundation, the exhibit was on view in the Akeley Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from June 24 through June 16, 2019.
