Exhibition. Opened December 14, 1941 and closed January 1, 1941. Located in the Whitney Gallery of Bird Art at the American Museum of Natural History. "Birds of Shakespeare" was an exhibition of 60 miniature paintings of birds referred to in the works of William Shakespeare.

Summary

"Birds of Shakespeare" was an exhibition of 60 miniature paintings of birds referred to in the works of William Shakespeare. The artist, Lavonia Stockelbach, painted the birds on holly wood employing the Chinese method of painting with a Chinese hair-line brush and classified the collection according to singing birds; the birds of somber hue; the little birds; game birds; sea birds and birds of prey. The collection was arranged to correspond with the direct quotations in the catalogue. The exhibit was on view in the Whitney Gallery of Bird Art at the American Museum of Natural History from December 14, 1940-January 1, 1941.
