Summary

"Return to the Kuikuru: An Ethnologist in the Field" was an exhibition illustrating the lives of the Kuikuru Indians of central Brazil. Thier communities have remained virtually untouched by twentieth-century life. Dr. Robert L Carneiro, curator in the Department of Anthropology, studied these people in 1953 and 1975. The exhibit explained how a trained field observer goes about his task. Supported by the Arthur Ross Foundation, the exhibit was on view in the Roosevelt Hall (2nd floor) of the American Museum of Natural History starting in June, 1976.

Individuals and institutions involved in the creation of the exhibition: Robert L. Carneiro; AMNH Department of Anthropology.
