Summary

"A Stranger in India" was an exhibition surveying new and old India in color photographs taken by Joan McKelvy Swift. Ancient and modern India are reflected in Swift's photographs of ancient Hindu temples near Bombay, the seaport of Cochin, Madras Province, and Agra amongst other sites. The photographs were on view in the Corner Gallery of the American Museum of Natural History from May 9 through August 30, 1967.
