Exhibition. Opened in July 2, 1961 and closed August 31, 1961. Located in the North American Mammal Corridor at the American Museum of Natural History. "Arctic Riviera" was an exhibition depicting the land and life of Greenland. On view were photographs by Ernst Hofer and artifacts from the Eskimo collections of the Museum.

Summary

"Arctic Riviera" was an exhibition depicting the land and life of Greenland. On view were photographs by Ernst Hofer and artifacts from the Eskimo collections of the Museum. Hofer photographed aerial views of the mountains, fjords, icebergs, animals and plant life as well as the Eskimos. The artifacts on display showed the tools, hunting equipment, kayaks, clothing and sculpture that the Eskimos used. Mr. Hofer's photographs were circulated in the United States by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and were on view in the North American Mammal Corridor on the first floor of the American Museum of Natural History from July 2 through August 31, 1961.
