Currier’s knife, 1887-1990s
Currier’s knife used for taxidermy, possibly used between 1887 and the 1990s to prepare the hide of the animals to be exhibited for their mounting. A currier’s knife is a double-edge tool used for fleshing and scraping larger hides. Both sides are kept sharp to shave and thin the skin.
