Gouache or tempera painting. View of Heliopolis obelisk taken from Grand Cairo after the inundation of the River Nile, undated
The 22 paintings that make up this series are composed of oil paintings and gouache/tempera paintings on paper. All of the oil paintings are scenes from Hawaii, dated from 1840, but do not include signatures. Several of the paintings on paper are of locations in Europe, seemingly by the same artist, depicting scenes of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
