Journals (14 v.) kept by J.T. Nichols of his work at the American Museum of Natural History. The entries are dated Mar. 12, 1924 to Oct. 31, 1958 (Nichols died on Nov. 10, 1958); vol. for Jan. 11, 1949-Nov. 15, 1954 missing. The first 3 vols. and p. 1-32 of the 4th vol. are especially devoted to descriptions of some 250 Chinese freshwater fish specimens in the Museum's collections. Each vol. consists of 152 p. (except v. [14] in which only p. 1-144 are filled), and most vols. include an index.

The collection also includes one notebook entitled "Guest book, Department of Ichthyology, American Museum of Natural History, 1922." with entries dated April 20, 1922 to Dec. 31, 1952.
