Journal written in the first stage of the Whitney South Sea Expedition of the American Museum of Natural History (which lasted until 1941) to collect birds for the Museum. Contains detailed account of the cruises to Tahiti, Marquesas Islands, Christmas Island, Austral Islands and Tuamotu Archipelago including descriptions of local geography, ethno-social characteristics of the natives, ornithological data, and the routine work in bird watching, hunting, and skinning.
