Depicts Indians on horseback with bows and lances chasing buffalo herd over a hill. Sketches on the upper Missouri in 1832, Sioux Indians. In stained wood frame. Catlin cat. (1871) #145.

Born in: Wilkes-Barre, PA; Died in: Jersey City, NJ.Active in: U.S.; Europe. Catlin's 1840s and 1850s portraits and paintings of Indian and western culture are important documents in American history, anthropology, and art.
