Abstract

Photographs of Ainu artifacts in three sets. Part one is taken by photographers Kazuyoshi and Takako Ohtsuka of Ainu artifacts, and includes weaponry, clothing, jewelry, bags, and wooden woven crafts or structure. Part two contain images of artifacts from the B. Dean Expedition and B. Laufer Expedition, containing scrolls of illustrations of Japanese officials, hearth, bear cage, and ritual bear hunt. Also included models of Ainu man and woman, engraved bone implements, knife and case, Nivkh (Gilyak) coat, and models of log houses. Part three is the Austerlitz collection, which includes Nivkh (Gilyak) clothing, figurine, musical instruments, and scrolls of Ainu houses.
