Series Description

From the Series:

This series is the bulk of the collection; it consists mainly of publication reprints or photocopies, some journals, as well as some minor correspondence and a small assortment of photographs. The material is mostly in English but a sizable portion is in German with some Japanese, French, and Chinese.

Research topics in the series, notably in boxes 5, 6, 7, and 8 include oral brooding, breeding habits, ontogeny, morphology, endocrinology, ethology, and evolution mostly within the Cichlid family of fish with specific focus on Cichlids including Tilapia. There is also material on aquarium fish and their maintenance. The papers in folders titled “Unprocessed Research Material" were kept together for easier use but this does not necessarily reflect association or similarities among them.

Box 9 contains folders with the English translations of articles in German as well as a folder of prints and photographs, some of which have descriptive labels also in German. Box 10 contains folders arranged by species type. A survey of the material shows that it spans a few decades, roughly from 1950-1990. This series was kept in its original order and remains minimally processed.
