Papers and photographic material, 1924-1976

Ted Galusha collection contains field correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts, stratigraphy, locality, and photographic materials. The notebooks are records of research and field work carried out in the west and southwest, and studies of mammals in Alaska and North America. The materials are housed in 4 subcollections that have repeating box numbers 1 and 2. To distinguish the materials that share that same box numbers, they are arranged by their subcollections written in capital letters below and Historic Call Numbers (3:2, 3:3, 4:1) are placed in front of the date range for the boxes.

TED GALUSHA NOTEBOOKS Boxes 1-3 (3:2; 1927-1969) are field reports, stratigraphy, and field plans of collecting areas in New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Nebraska. Materials have been removed from 3-ring binders and placed in folders. Box 4 (3:2; 1929-1971) are notes and illustrations on Alaska mammals, mainly Pleistocene Canidae and type localities. Included are Felidae catalogue of Frick Laboratory specimens (1961-1964); original and duplicate M. F. Skinner Felidae notes for Frick (1942-1971); a 1972 report to Bobb Schaeffer documenting status of the Frick Collection. This unit also includes 2 packages (3:2; 1936- 1966): Package 1 contains a hand drawn map by J. C. Blick dated Aug. 2, 1936, of Espanola, New Mexico investigations. Package 2 contains hand drawn maps by Joseph Rak, copied by M. F. Skinner on March 22, 1966; 2 photographic views of Cripple Creek mounted on boards; and negatives of figures from AMNH Bulletin "Santa Fe" manuscript from the early 1970s.

TED GALUSHA NEGATIVES and PRINTS Boxes 1-2 (3:2; 1924-1973) contain prints of field activity in Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming. Box 1 negatives stored in envelops were removed and transferred to AMNH's Research Library freezer storage in June 2015. Box 2 negatives housed with prints are restricted due to poor condition.

TED GALUSHA PAPERS Boxes 1-2 (3:2; 1938-1978) contain stratigraphic and base camp materials, site locations of excavations, sedimentation, manuscripts, notes, and research materials on localities and formations. Box 3-4 (3:3; 1950s-1970s) contain manuscripts and reference materials in binders on cats compiled in the 1950s to 1970s, and miscellaneous folders containing notes, seminars, and handouts. Includes an email announcement and obituary for Marian Galusha (wife of Ted Galusha) dated March 24, 2004, from Carrie Herbel, Collections Manager at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

TED GALUSHA MOUNTED SLIDES Boxes 1-2 (4:1; 1961-1973) contain individual boxes of slides of localities in Arizona, Nebraska, and Nevada.
