Biographical or Historical Note

Assistant curator of the British Museum (Natural History), Editor of the Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society, and established shikari. McCann was a botanist and zoologist whose work on primates was known. Vernay referred to McCann as a 'jungle man' for his skills as a hunter-naturalist

Participated in the Vernay-Hopwood Chindwin Expedition of the American Museum of Natural History (1934-1935).
