While a graduate student at Yale University, Edward M. Weyer worked with James Henry Breasted in Egypt, with the government archaeologist in Mexico, and was a project archaeologist with the American Museum of Natural History. He was the editor of Natural History Magazine from 1935 to 1957 and the director of the Explorer's Club from 1955 to 1958. Weyer participated in a few expeditions for the American Museum of Natural History, including Stoll-McCracken Arctic Expedition, 1929
