Carl Newland Werntz was an artist, educator, teacher and traveler. The American Museum of Natural History has some of Werntz's sketches of subjects in Southeast Asia, particularly Formosa, Sumatra, Bali, Cambodia, Yami Island, Borneo, and the Philippines, in addition to sketches of the Solomons.
