Exhibition. Opened approximately January 1976 and closed January 31, 1976. Located in the New York State Roosevelt Memorial at the American Museum of Natural History. "Coelacanth Babies: Born, Not Hatched" featured one of the five embryos found by Museum scientists in the womb of a mature female coelacanth.

Summary

"Coelacanth Babies: Born, Not Hatched" featured one of the five embryos found by Museum scientists in the womb of a mature female coelacanth. Photographs and other material illustrated the scientifically significant discovery which established that coelacanths give birth to living young and are not egg-laying fishes. The exhibition was on view in the Roosevelt Memorial Hall (first floor) of the American Museum of Natural History during the month of January, 1976.
