Summary

"Ancient Peruvian Feather Mantles" featured two colorful historic feather mantles of the ancient Peruvian Rukana culture. The mantles, which were approximately 7 feet by 30 inches in size, were thought to have been used as wall hangings in the temples of the Rukana civilization contemporary with the Inca culture. The mantles, loaned to the museum by Harry Tschopik and Mr. Ernest Erickson, were on view in the 77th Street Foyer at the American Museum of Natural History from May 27 until July 16, 1947.
