"The Great Auk in Illustrated Bird Books" was an exhibition highlighting the extinct Great Auk as shown in illustrated bird books from the Museum's rare book collection.

Summary

"The Great Auk in Illustrated Bird Books" was an exhibition highlighting the extinct Great Auk as shown in illustrated bird books from the Museum's rare book collection. The exhibition was a joint effort of the Museum Library and the Museum's Department of Ornithology and honored the Centennial Meeting of the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) at the Museum. The Auk is the symbol of the AOU. The books were on view in the Library Gallery on the 4th floor of the American Museum of Natural History from September 26 through October 28, 1983.
