Summary
"Masks by Mail" was an exhibition featuring three Northwest Coast Indian masks from the Museum's collection that were part of a U.S. Postal Service stamp series. The masks were acquired by the Museum in the 1880's from the Heiltsuk Bella Bella, Tlingit and Bella Coola tribes. Also included in the exhibit were other artifacts from the Museum's Northwest Coast Indian collection and materials from the Postal Service tracing the production of the stamps. This Arthur Ross Exhibition of the Month was on view in the Roosevelt Rotunda on the second floor of the American Museum of Natural History starting October 15, 1980.
