Summary
"Ancient Nazca Ground Drawings" was an exhibition featuring dramatic photographs of the intriguing lines and figures cut into the earth of the Nazca Plains by pre-Columbian people. The Nazca civilization flourished on the south coast of Peru from approximately 200 to 500 A.D. and created monumental figures such as birds that stretch as large as 400 feet. Also on view were ceramic vessels and textile fragments for comparison. The exhibition was on view in Gallery 3 Annex of the American Museum of Natural History from November 10, 1979 until February 28, 1980.
