Cope's field diaries of his collecting expeditions in the West in 1872, 1873, 1874, 1876, 1877, 1879 (3 v.), 1881/82, 1883/85 and 1892/93. Also includes a notebook entitled "Paris journal" (1878) and field diaries of his collecting assistants, R.S. Hill (Kansas, 1877 and 1879. 2 v.), Frank Hazard (Nebraska, 1880), and Hazard's assistant, J.B. Asher (Kansas, 1881)
General Note
The diaries, written mostly in pencil, contain many illustrations, some colored, and numerous inserts, such as calling cards and notes on slips of paper.
