John Pierpont Morgan was one of the founders of the American Museum of Natural History. He was a member of the museum's Board of Trustees, serving among many positions, Member and Chairman of the Finance Committee (from 1908), Chairman of Committee on Building and Plans (1908-1910), Second Vice President (from 1911) and Elected Chairman of Executive Committe (from 1911). J. P. Morgan contributed to museum expeditions and public exhibitions
