Gem Collector

American mineralogist and gem expert, Vice-President of Tiffany & Co. (1879- ), U.S. Geological Survey special agent (1883-1909), President of the New York Mineralogical Club. He was also an honorary curator at the American Museum of Natural History for 14 years. Kunz had an active interest in meteorites and from 1885 to 1891 described numerous meteorites from the United States. In 1905 the meteorite collection of George Kunz was purchased for the Museum by J. P. Morgan. (source: AMNH website 2015)
