Summary
"Mineralogical Stamp Collection" exhibited stamps featuring mining scenes, metallurgical process, and scientists who had achieved fame in the fields of geology and mineralogy. The stamps on exhibit were from the collection of E. Lawrence Samptor, a member of the New York Mineralogical Club, and included 165 stamps from 37 different countries. Also on exhibit was "Carla's Zoo" a collection of stamps from around the world which Carla Pelander amassed before her death at age fourteen. The collections were on display in the Morgan Gem Hall and the 77th St. Foyer at the American Museum of Natural History from May 17 through May 25 during the Centenary International Philatelic exhibition in New York.
