Summary
Rare Tibetan Plaque" featured a rare icon of gold, copper and precious stones. It was presented to the museum as a gift of Princess Serge Belosselsky. The icon, believed to have been made in the eighteenth century, was on exhibit in the 77th St. Foyer at the American Museum of Natural History from July 25 through August 15, 1947 after which it was placed among the permanent exhibits in the Tibetan Hall.
