"Spelunking in New England" featured of ore specimens, stalactites and stalagmites and photographs gathered by cave explorer Clay Perry during his search for material for his book "New England's Buried Treasure."

Summary

"Spelunking in New England" featured of ore specimens, stalactites and stalagmites and photographs gathered by cave explorer Clay Perry during his search for material for his book "New England's Buried Treasure." Perry coined the word "spelunker" from the scientific term"speliological reseracher" meaning "cave explorer." The exhibition was on view in the 77th Street Foyer at the American Museum of Natural History from November 25 through December 30, 1946.
