Scope and Contents
Boxes 1 through 4 contain the American Museum of Natural History bound Annual Reports starting from 1946 through 1998. It chronicles museum operations, development, and the Board of Trustees; scientific divisions, research, and publications; science explorations, education, programing, and public outreach; museum finance and support; and museum staff and volunteers. Box 1 (1946-1968) contains themed reports. Of note are, 1953-1954, “The Museum’s Contribution to Our Knowledge of Living Nature”; 1954-1955, “Filing The Gaps of Knowledge. III Museum’s Contributions To Geological Sciences. Report of the Director”; 1955-1956, “Development of Educational Services, 1869-1956”; 1957-1958, “What, When, Why, and How in Exhibition.” Missing reports: 1947-1948, 1948-1949, 1949-1950, 1951-1952, 1958-1959. Box 2 (1969-1977) includes a 1974-1975 Research Report and Bibliography. Box 3 (1980-1990). Box 4 (1990-1998). Missing report 1996-1997. Box 5 contains: (1965-1966) Bibliography of the Staff, prepared by the Council of the Scientific Staff, by Jerome G. Rozen, Jr; (1969-1970) Bibliography of the Staff, Prepared by the Council of the Scientific Staff, by Richard G. Zweifel; (1997) Research at the American Museum of Natural History, Produced by the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, with the goal of publication to inform potential collaborators of Museum specific research activities and the university affiliations of its curators; (2002) Science at the American Museum of Natural History, featuring a behind the scenes look at laboratories and scientific field work; (1994) pamphlet The First 125 Years written by Margaret Cooper; (9 April 1969) The American Museum of Natural History Centennial Convocation program.
