Born in: Wilkes-Barre, PA; Died in: Jersey City, NJ. Active in: U.S.; Europe. Catlin's 1840s and 1850s portraits and paintings of Indian and western culture are important documents in American history, anthropology, and art.

General Note
The Buffalo's Child, Iron Horn, and the Woman Who Strikes Many (wife). Three full length figures, center man wearing decorated robe holding spear with pelt of weasel on it, right man wearing robe, carrying quiver, woman on left wearing simple dress and robe. Inscription: Center "Blackfoot Group." Catlin, Cat. (1871) #38.
This painting is cartoon, painted by Catlin after his original paintings were auctioned off for debt.
