American Badger (Diorama)

Historical Note
The American Badger diorama is located on the first floor in the Hall of Small Mammals, part of the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. The diorama was completed in 1960 and was restored during the Hall’s renovation project in 2011-2012. The diorama depicts a scene in Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where a badger has discovered a burrow entrance of a Wyoming ground squirrel. The background featuring the Grand Teton Mountains in the distance was painted by James Perry Wilson. The foreground artist was Freidoun Jalayer. The taxidermist was James Hagenmayer.
