Historical Note
The Dall Sheep diorama is located on the first floor in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. The diorama was completed in 1941 and was restored during the Hall’s renovation project in 2011-2012. The scene depicts three Dall sheep relaxing in August at midnight on a wintry peak in Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska. Mount Denali (McKinley) is featured in the background. The background painter was Belmore Browne (with George Browne assisting). The foreground was created by G. Frederick Mason. The taxidermist was Robert Rockwell. (Windows on Nature, 2006)
