Historical Note
The Mule Deer diorama is located on the first floor of the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. The diorama was completed in 1943 and restored during the Hall’s renovation project in 2011-2012. The Wyoming setting depicts two mule deer in the foreground with Devils Tower National Monument and the Belle Fourche River in the background. The background was painted by James Perry Wilson. The foreground artists were Raymond De Lucia and Paul Wright. The taxidermist was George Adams. (Windows on Nature, 2006)
