Historical Note
The Fisher and Porcupine diorama is located on the first floor in the Hall of Small Mammals, part of the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. The diorama was completed in 1954 and was restored during the Hall’s renovation project in 2011-2012. The scene, at the base of Mount Washington National Forest, New Hampshire, depicts a fisher that has discovered its favorite prey, a porcupine, descending a tree. The background painter was James Perry Wilson. The foreground artist was Charles Tornell, The taxidermist was George Adams. (Windows on Nature, 2006)
