Historical Note

The Bighorn Sheep diorama is located on the first floor in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. The diorama was completed in 1942 and was restored during the Hall's renovation project in 2011-2012. The scene depicts three male bighorn sheep standing atop Mount Wilcox in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The background featuring the Canadian Rockies was painted by Belmore Browne (with George Browne assisting). The foreground artist was Joseph Guerry (with Raymond DeLucia, George Frederick Mason, Charles Turnell and Paul Wright assisting). The taxidermist was Robert Rockwell. (Windows on Nature, 2006)
