Helmut K. Wimmer was an artist for the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History from 1954 to 1987. Wimmer produced hundreds of paintings on cardboard sheets which were then transferred onto high-resolution slides that were projected from as many as 200 projectors on the perimeter of the planetarium's (then) 48-foot dome. Slides were also projected from the Zeiss projector weaving seamless panoramas
