Summary
"African Figurine" featured a wooden figurine representing a female ancestor of one of the clans of the Kuba peoples in the Congo, Africa. This figurine, part of the permanent collection, came to the museum in 1907. It served as a symbol of unity among the Kuba. An Exhibit of the Month, the figurine was on view in the niche of the 77th Street Foyer at the American Museum of Natural History from April 1 through April 30, 1968.
